APP-NW and OMPA Join Forces For Actor Education At Oregon’s Got Talent On October 26

Don’t Miss OMPA’s Annual Oregon’s Got Talent!

Pacific Northwest actors, the event of the year is right around the corner!  The Oregon Media Production Association’s annual celebration of Oregon’s professional performers, talent support and industry resources Oregon’s Got Talent is Saturday, October 26 at “Old Town” Portland’s White Stag Building (70 NW Couch Street, Portland Oregon.)

If you’ve subscribed to our mailing list then you already know that APP-NW is joining forces with OMPA this year to present an Actors Expo from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM – before the evening celebration and presentation of the organization’s Superfine Actor Awards.

What’s an Actors Expo?  It’s a special one-day event aimed at giving you the tools to build your professional performing career in Oregon – with a series of educational presentations including:

        • Working With Agents And Crafting The Perfect Reel
How do you get an agent to represent you, anyway?  Once you’ve gained representation, how is the agent/ performer relationship supposed to work?  Some of Portland’s top talent agents join APP-NW to answer your questions and help you take that next step in your career!  We’ll also be discussing the importance of demo reels, and how to make sure your reel is “up to snuff!”

        • Audition Supremacy: How To PWN Every Audition
Do you get NERVOUS at your Auditions and don’t know why?  Have you ever left an Audition space WISHING it went better?  Do you wish you had ADVANTAGES over other Actors?  Brian Vermeire and Kristina Hughes from LA-based Holdon Log (makers of the #1 organizational tool for actors, PerformerTrack) show you how to audition so confidently that getting a callback should be an expected event.

        • SAG-AFTRA 2013: How the Union Works for YOU
PORTLAND SAG-AFTRA is dedicated to ALL performers and categories it represents. Whether you are an actor, dancer, singer, stunt performer or broadcaster — union or non-union — we are here to help you earn what you deserve, under the best working conditions possible. New contracts enabling union actors to work in indie films; conservatory programs to enhance training; advice for new performers and other categories and much more make SAG-AFTRA a valuable resource for anyone working — or hoping to work — as performer or other category. Get to know SAG-AFTRA — and put the union to work for YOU!

        • Inside The Casting Office
How do casting directors decide who to call in, and who to call back?  What do they say makes the difference when you audition for movies… or television shows… or commercials?  Portland-area casting directors – many of whom cast major films and television shows in Oregon – join us to answer your questions and give you the inside scoop about what happens inside the casting office!

All this and a day-long trade show featuring headshot photographers, reel editors, acting coaches and other professionals offering their services to northwest actors make this the must-attend event of the year! Special discounts are available – if you’re an OMPA member (including Agency ‘add-on’ members) use discount code ompamember13; if you’re a Portland Area Theatre Alliance member use discount code mypata13; and/or if you’re a SAG-AFTRA member use discount code sagme13!
