… in fact, there’s an international organization dedicated to ensuring that performers can work safely and be fairly treated, compensated and protected under the law! The FIA or Federation Internationale Des Acteurs (that’s International Federation of Actors for you non-francophones) was founded in 1952 and now comprises some 90 affiliated unions, guilds, and professional organizations in 60 countries.
The FIA has just published its 2013 Moral Rights of Performers Handbook, which gives a broad outline of regulatory frameworks worldwide and provides guidance for ongoing responses to the issue of performers rights.
We urge all APP-NW members to take some time to read the handbook, which is available in 3 languages!
